It's in the spectacle of the sun casting its golden hues across the rugged landscape of Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve, where the shadows dance as the day comes to a close. It's in the subtle rustle of leaves as the resident wildlife blends seamlessly into the natural embrace of the terrain. The night brings its own symphony – the distant calls of nocturnal creatures and the crackle of a fire under the vast starlit sky. As you breathe in the pure air, escaping the hustle of daily life, you feel a profound sense of relaxation. The scent of indigenous plants and the comforting chirps of crickets announce the beginning of an evening filled with hearty meals and shared stories.

Here, all your senses are in harmony, setting the stage for a week of well-deserved rest and rejuvenation, a sensation only the enchanting Cederberg can evoke. These moments, among countless others, fuel our commitment at Kagga Kamma. Our Team strives for greatness in hospitality, driven by the desire to share this extraordinary place with our cherished Shareholders and guests. It's a blessing to create and celebrate these experiences, and here's to sharing many more moments with you.

Brush Jewel Beetle

Among a multitude of beetles, the brush jewel beetle distinguishes itself with its striking characteristics. These creatures have a torpedo-shaped body with 6 legs. With a torpedo-shaped body supported by six legs, these creatures display a hard, glossy blue-green exoskeleton complemented by yellowish-orange wax-coated hairs that protrude through its surface. They possess the highest amount of hair among all beetle species.

African Wildcat

Did you know? Domestic cats are believed to have evolved from the African wildcat between 4 000 and 10 000 years ago. Their domestication is believed to have started approximately 9 500 years ago in the Middle East.

Southern Rock Agama

The Southern Rock Agama has some ability to change colour, although not to the same extent as chameleons. When a male agama, displaying breeding colouration, encounters a potential threat, it responds by flattening against a rock and changing from its intense breeding colours to more subdued colours for camouflage.

Always on the lookout and forever improving; our dedicated Team loves creating more reasons why Kagga Kamma
should be your ‘always and forever’ Resort…

Mothers Day

Rain, Shine, and… Snow?

The Cederberg has offered us a grand performance, showcasing the full range of seasons within a mere three months. Just as we eagerly anticipated the arrival of Spring with its promise of clear skies and warm temperatures, we experienced heavy floods which brought about substantial damage and loss in the area. Once the torrents subsided, and we thought the surprises were over, nature had another twist in store - some light and unexpected snowfall in the unlikely month of September!

Flower Season

Following the unanticipated deluge of heavy rains, Kagga Kamma has burst into a kaleidoscope of hues, adorned with the blossoming of flowers across the entire Reserve. Witnessing this breath-taking display of beauty amidst the typically barren Karoo landscape is truly mesmerising.

Our guides, captivated by the abundance of flowers this year, are channelling their inspiration into a book for our guests to enjoy during their Springtime visits. This unique guide will feature not only the stunning images of the flowers and fynbos, but also provide in-depth descriptions and unveil the medicinal treasures hidden within these blossoms.

Bontebok Calf

Our hearts beam with pride as we celebrate the arrival of our third precious Bontebok baby. This marks the third consecutive spring season graced by a new addition to our beloved Bontebok herd.

Once on the brink of extinction, the Bontebok, considered the rarest antelope globally in the 1930s with a mere 17 surviving, has made a remarkable resurgence. Today, their population has rebounded to an estimated 3500. This resurgence acts as a testament to the power of conservation efforts and underscores the resilience of this extraordinary species.

We would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt wishes to each and every one of our valued Shareholders and guests. May this season overflow with love, laughter, and cherished moments with those who matter most. We encourage you to embrace the wonders of the season and take a moment to savour the beauty of the moments that lie ahead. Whether you find yourself amidst the breath-taking landscapes of the Reserve or in the comfort of your own home, may you discover moments of pure joy and happiness. As the New Year approaches, we look forward to continuing our journey together, creating unforgettable memories and meaningful experiences.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Kagga Kamma family.

iEXCHANGE

iExchange

We are thrilled to share the news that Kagga Kamma has earned the INFLUENCER award in the prestigious iExchange Hospitality Awards 2022 /2023.

The Influencer is awarded to resorts that are leaders of innovation in providing that wow factor in the overall holiday experience. They are known for going above and beyond in order to achieve excellence.

Take a look at all the special moments and celebrations we have shared with our Shareholders and
guests in the second half of 2023:

Mothers Day

Father’s Day

The theme for Father’s Day weekend was “Dad You Rock”. Our Team rocked bow ties to honour the occasion. At Reception, an array of tempting cupcakes and refreshing drinks awaited guests during check-in. Each dad was gifted with a “Dad Your Rock” mug as a token of our appreciation for them. As guests arrived at their chalets, they were greeted by the sweet surprise of a box filled with Father's Day-themed cookies as a lovely welcome gift.

Mothers Day

Spring Day

Spring Day was transformed into a floral wonderland this year at Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve. The air, both outside the greater Reserve and within the walls of our Resort, was filled with the enchanting scent of blossoms. Our Team turned the Reception into a botanical masterpiece with an array of colourful flowers. Our Receptionists embraced the spirit, wearing flowers in their hair, bringing a touch of nature's elegance to the forefront. As a sweet token of the day, our guests were treated to some flower-shaped cookies that added a delicious and decorative flair to the celebration of new beginnings.

Mothers Day

Women’s Day

In celebration of Women's Day, we decorated our Reception with a burst of colour, elegance, and charm, paying homage to the incredible women of South Africa. The colour of the day was pink and we embellished the area with flowers and pearls, creating an atmosphere of refined beauty. To sweeten the welcome, each guest was treated to scrumptious pink and white cupcakes alongside a refreshing drink during check-in. With a thoughtful surprise awaiting them in their rooms, our guests arrived to some lovely cookies from our dedicated Team.

Mothers Day

Heritage Day

Heritage Day came as a celebration of the diverse roots and cultures that shape South Africa's identity. To take part in the countrywide celebrations and embrace the richness that defines our nation, our staff was draped in their traditional regalia. A warm welcome awaited each guest, complete with homemade cookies, clay pots with spekboom plants put together by our Maintenance Team, and some special homemade chilli sauce. Check-in became a flavourful experience, offering our guests the refreshing kick of ginger beer, the sweet temptation of koeksusters, and the velvety goodness of milk tart. As the day progressed, a collective spirit of joy took over, with everyone coming together to partake in classic games like bokdrol spoeg and kettie shooting, weaving a thread of tradition and playfulness into our celebration.

Mothers Day

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we wanted to do our part in commemorating the occasion. Our Spa ladies brought out their Kalahari Ancient Desert Secrets products and treated all our guests to some complimentary hand massages. It was a wonderful way to show our support toward the cause and pamper our guests at the same time.

Mothers Day

School Holidays

Our Guide Team went above and beyond to keep our guests entertained during the school holidays. They organised a series of exciting activities that catered to everyone’s interests, including reptile presentations where they learned about the fascinating reptiles found on the Reserve and guided walks where they could paint their own rock and try to replicate the Khoisan art. And if that wasn’t enough, they also organised some games to spark a little friendly competition and keep everyone on their toes.

Mothers Day

Rugby World Cup 2023

The Kagga Kamma Team and guests brought the “Bok Gees” during this year’s Rugby World Cup! The Bar was decked out with the Springbok and National flags. We had specials like pizzas and snack platters, as well as a “grazing cup” that contained pretzels and the traditional droëwors and biltong snacks on offer. To add to the excitement, we also had a photo booth and we ran a “guess the score” competition where the winners received Kagga Kamma branded prizes. But that’s not all! Before gathering together at the Bar patio to watch the games, our Team entertained our guests with their very own “Kagga Kamma Haka”. And for those who wanted to get in on the action, we had activities such bokdrol spoeg, kettie shooting, and minute-to-win-it. We even had pizza and cupcake decorating for the kiddies.

At Kagga Kamma, we believe in creating special moments that linger in the heart for a lifetime. Over the past few months, we have had the pleasure of hosting numerous elopements, weddings, anniversaries, proposals, and birthdays. Our talented and dedicated staff goes the extra mile to turn these occasions into extraordinary experiences. From personalised touches to thoughtful surprises, we have ensured that every moment is filled with joy, laughter, and love.

KFM Best of the Cape Award – Best Weekend Stay
iExchange Service Excellence Award – Tania Steenkamp

A glimpse of heaven! My husband and I had our elopement ceremony at Kagga Kamma and it was pure bliss, from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and received a brief information session and were then escorted to our cave unit. The owner met with us to discuss details for the event, and we were very impressed by how accommodating they are. The food is simply delicious and presented beautifully. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel important and like family. Special thanks to Ryno and Nathan for their excellent service as well as Leandra for escorting us to the unit and ceremony location, head chef for her professional and beautiful service and Tania for taking the time to meet with us. Kagga Kamma offers many activities which we hope to participate in on our next visit. You truly need to see it to believe such a place exists!
Well done, Kagga Kamma!

A place suspended between the silence of the land and the changing of the skies. A place to listen to the rocks, tell their stories. A place to walk in the footsteps of the ancestors. A place to be in love with each other. A place where the people who look after you, reflect the magic and serenity of this place called Kagga Kamma. What an incredible experience we had
at this magnificent place.
