Nature Drives

Mountain Fynbos and Succulent Karoo plants provide the grazing and resources the critters and creatures of Kagga Kamma need to survive. The plants themselves are fascinating, representing an extraordinary botanical treasury where species have evolved sophisticated adaptations to thrive in challenging conditions. Kagga Kamma’s qualified Guides take guests on Nature Drives where breath-taking views of the Ceres Karoo, Tankwa Karoo and Cederberg can be enjoyed, as well as the indigenous fauna and flora. This experience will leave guests with a deep appreciation for Kagga Kamma’s unique environment.

Join our Nature Guides on a meandering drive to a vantage point with unmatched views. Sip on a drink and enjoy delicious snacks while quietly contemplating the spectacular, unpopulated landscape with mountain ranges unfolding and the caress of a light breeze, as the fading sunlight casts brilliant hues across a deepening sky.

The clear, dark skies, relatively high elevation and the lack of light pollution make Kagga Kamma the perfect stargazing spot. Literally! The skies over the Reserve are classified Bortle 1, which represents the best possible dark sky locations in the world. This fascinating experience is facilitated by Guides that are equipped to ensure that guests experience the wonders of our immaculate, star-studded Southern Hemisphere night skies.

Self-Guided Excursions

Traversing the landscape on foot, two wheels, or by 4×4 vehicle provides a different perspective to the magic Kagga Kamma has to offer. Marvel at the vast expanses that make Kagga Kamma so special, the unusual and interesting plants, the antelope wondering the plains, and strange rocky peaks and balancing boulders towering up towards the sky, as you make your way along the trail towards a rock art site.
